Although he still thinks of himself as a software engineer, Derek has spent most of the last 20 years as an executive in the finance industry (TradFi and Crypto) and as a venture investor. Derek has been part of Prota Ventures since 2016, as an advisor and the first investor, and now as a Managing Director and a GP in Prota's Funds.

Derek spends much of his time these days managing his own small investment firm, advising portfolio companies, and trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up.
