cairo
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10
Geeks arrive in Cairo! Geeks check in to our luxury accommodations right on the Nile river, before attending a welcome dinner to meet our Hosts and fellow Geeks.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11
Learn about Egypt's tech ecosystem, hosted at the Greek Campus, an innovation hub located in the center of Cairo. Learn from the top VCs and industry leaders in Egypt about the investment scene, the impact of regional dynamics, the Egypt/ Saudi relationship, and more. Then grab dinner and do some shopping in historic Cairo's famous bazaar and souq, Khan el-Khalili.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12
Travel to the vibrant 5th Settlement neighborhood in Cairo for company visits, learning more from successful ventures in the ecosystem about their industry and experiences. We will be hosting a pitch event with local startups, giving the Geeks the opportunity to provide real time feedback and learn which industries are seeing the fastest startup growth.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13
Join us as we explore ancient Egypt through a tour of the Pyramids, a camel ride (optional), the Egyptian Museum, Al-Azhar Park, and more. Depart on an evening flight to Kigali, Rwanda.
KIGALI
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14
Enjoy the day off, or explore the city of Kigali. Also known as "the land of a thousand hills," Rwanda is ranked as the safest country in all of Africa, and has a rich history to explore.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15
Take a day trip from Kigali to see the gorgeous Volcanoes National Park. Join us for a Golden Chimpanzee tour or hike the summit of an active volcano. Or take the opportunity to do a gorilla trek, a truly remarkable experience to see this endangered species in their natural habitat (Gorilla trekking will have to be booked separately but we will provide transportation to and from the park).
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16
On Sunday we are hosting a Geeks "Unconference," a day of internal Geeks workshops and learning sessions. Our trips bring together incredible, intelligent leaders in tech. This internal retreat day is our chance to learn from each other, present the projects we're working on, and discuss subjects we're passionate about, all in a beautiful location.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17
Meet at Norrsken House Kigali, the innovation of hub of Rwanda and home to the country's top VCs and founders. We are meeting with top government officials (perhaps the President himself!) to find out why Rwanda is being called the "Singapore of Africa," and hear the story Rwanda's growth - from conflict, to becoming the safest and cleanest country in Africa, and also the host of the Kigali International Financial Centre, positioning Rwanda as a financial services hub in East Africa. Fly in the evening to Nairobi.
