Ian is a part of the Technology leadership team at WEX, where he is responsible for product-facing platforms as well as the product technology for the Corporate Payments and Travel lines of business. Prior to joining WEX, Ian was the founder of Stickbuilt Inc, a boutique development shop focused on mobile solutions in the fintech space, which counted Walmart Labs and IDEO among its clients.
Prior to Stickbuilt Ian worked at Loopt, one of the first batch of YC companies, where he advanced from mobile engineer (where he found many bugs written by Chok Ooi) to VP of Engineering by the time Loopt was acquired by Green Dot. At Green Dot Ian was the VP of Web & Mobile Engineering at Green Dot, where his team built and launched GoBank, the first mobile bank account that could be bought on a J-hook.
Before Loopt Ian worked in QA and Development at a number of startups including Napster and Reactrix, as well as in startups in the mobile software and video games spaces.
Ian has a B.S. in Computer Science from U.C. Santa Cruz and an M.S. in Software Management from Carnegie Mellon. He is a husband, a father of three, and a lover of boardgames and good whiskey.
