PATRICK GROVE, Co-Founder and Group CEO at Catcha Group

Patrick spent his early years in Singapore and Indonesia before moving to Sydney, Australia, where he spent his high school years and went on to study at the University of Sydney.

Patrick caught the entrepreneurial bug early, starting two companies whilst still at university, and quickly realised that he wanted to become a full-time entrepreneur. In 1999 he quit his graduate job at Arthur Andersen, packed his bags, and moved back to Southeast Asia to start a dot-com company, Catcha.com, with university mate Luke Elliott. Together, they built Catcha.com into one of Asia’s highest profile dot-coms at the time and later a rare survivor of the dot-com crash, before restructuring it into the Catcha Group in 2004.

Since then, Catcha has founded and taken 6 digital businesses from startup to IPO. These include the iProperty Group – which was acquired by REA Group in 2016 in one of the largest ever acquisitions of a Southeast Asian internet company at the time; iCar Asia, an operator of leading automobile marketplaces in Southeast Asia; and Frontier Digital Ventures, an owner and operator of leading online marketplaces in frontier markets. Patrick is also Chairman and CEO of Catcha Investment Corp, a blank check company targeting technology businesses in Southeast Asia and Australia that listed on the NYSE in February 2021.

Today, Patrick is passionate about leveraging Catcha’s entrepreneurial and capital markets expertise to help great tech entrepreneurs scale and take their companies from the private to public markets.
He has been independently and widely recognised by a number of international awards, including: Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum; New Asian Leader by the World Economic Forum; Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Australian Chamber of Commerce, Singapore; and Asia’s Best Young Entrepreneur by Bloomberg Business.
